Daycare *Trigger Warning*

posted 21st Mar
This is "one" of the reasons I'm terrified of daycares and SOOOO thankful that my daughter can watch my toddler while me and DH are at work...

MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A Mesa man was arrested and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Christopher Clark, 54, is accused of downloading a substantial amount of child porn from Limewire, a peer-to-peer file sharing program. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office was notified by a monitoring company out of Pennsylvania.
When MCSO arrived to issue a search warrant early Tuesday morning, Clark was not surprised.
Sgt. Brandon Jones of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Clark told police, "'I know what you guys are here for. Here's the computer. Here's what I've been doing. I've got several hundred files on my computer plus all these CD's on my desk.'"
During October 2012 and February 2013, more than 900 files were shared, captured from the I.P. address on Clark's computer, according to MCSO. The files contained pictures and videos of young children engaged in sexual activity with adults.
"He did indicate he was attracted to girls and boys ages 10 to 16 years of age, various different sex acts, as well as bestiality," said Jones.
Clark admitted the files on the computer found in his home were his and that he can't stop looking at them, even after he said his wife caught him six months ago.
"He even admitted he had burned several CD's in his backyard after he thought his wife found out about his addiction," said Jones. But Clark told detectives one week after he destroyed part of his collection, he started downloading again.
Clark's wife is a former preschool teacher and had been running an in-home daycare.
"She watches neighborhood children as well as her grandchildren at this house, so the concern to us, was he physically touching these children inappropriately," explained Jones.
There seems to be no indication of that, according to MCSO, but the investigation is ongoing.
It is not clear if Clark's wife actually knew of his alleged criminal activity. He told detectives she did, but so far, MCSO says she has not confirmed that.
She did continue to run the daycare until Wednesday, when she terminated all babysitting services as a condition of Clark's release and return to their home.
He is under house arrest and wears an electronic monitoring device on his ankle.
His next court appearance is scheduled for March 26.

Ugh wtf!! I have to put my DD in daycare which smurf like this terrifies me, but I really have no other choice. Luckily the daycare she will be in, my nephew has gone to for a year & a half and never had any issues with it. The ladies are all really nice & my nephew loves going there.

How awful. She stopped baby sitting so he could come home, even worse. That makes me think she knew what was going on and potentially was ok with it. Those parents trusted her >

Thank god I work from home and never have to send my Leo's to daycare, though I don't think I would ever send my children to an in home daycare.

One of the many reasons I use a long established center that is inspected and monitored by the state.

Not everyone has the option of remaining home.

So I'm confused. There was so much child pornography, he confessed and yet the cops still let him go home. Even with an ankle thing, that's not going to stop him. Now, that he's found it, it seems that this would be the greatest time of danger for kids since he will be going to prison.

Agreed, and not everyone has the option of family help either. I don't. Luckily I found a babysitter that I trust. Took awhile but at least I know my kids are safe with her when I have to leave them.

If I didnt have Zoe to be able to watch her, I'd find an overnight shift, or have DH work overnight. If that wasnt possible, Id find a daycare that had video monitoring at all times. I'm wayyyy too effing paranoid when it comes to my children... like... ridiculously paranoid.

This is why I'm a SAHM! I won't be going back to school or work until BOTH children are in school. Or if I move closer to my parents so my mom can watch them.
I am terrified of daycare centers and in home daycare's. Even the popular well known daycare centers (like tutor time).
