re: Caidens EEG & reaction.

posted 21st Mar
Any time I've been sedated I've been out of it for pretty much an entire day.

I'd ask another doctor what they thought of the situation and whether its typical or not. I do know that some people have bad reactions to anesthesia and its no fault of anyone's.

Regardless you should talk to the doctors where the procedure was done because if he is one of those people who have bad reactions, they need to be aware. If someone did something wrong, they also need to be made aware.

Is that normal or are you sensitive to it?
I definitely will. Especially since he's getting anesthesia on the 26th.

The doctor that gave us the prescription didn't say a single word to us about the medicine. The receptionist is the one that handed us the script. I talked to the pharmacy and his pedi about it and both said he'd just be sleepy for a few hours. Sleepy is different than unresponsive though. I plan to talk to his neuro about what happened since hes his neuro and a doctor at the hospital where he got the sdeeg.

As far as I know it's normal.

Since it was probably a center that does this a lot, they probably get comfortable in a routine which can make them seem insensitive. I would go in and talk to them about what happened (and try not to sound too accusatory) and see if it was normal, what to expect next time, if he may have an aversion, how to avoid this happening, etc.

If it's abnormal they will probably come up with a new plan.

I would make a point to ask 845873684978 questions from now on though. I always try to know the ins and out of any meds prescribed to me or my son because I'm anal retentive. But it's comforting. I always have the pharmacist print off the info they have on the med and read through it.

Thank you. I plan on doing this.

I have a multfolder organizer that I keep EVERTHING medicical/autism/IEP stuff in and request all letters that everyone sends out to have a copy of. I'm going to add a notebook in there for a million question.

LOL sounds like a plan. Good luck. Go in optimistic. They're more likely to be more open with you and happy to share if they don't feel attacked.

I'm trying to be a good advocate for him, lol. I'll have to remember that when I go to talk to them about his EEG testing.

I'm just so ready for all this testing to be over and have answers and a game plan.

He's already had genetic testing and the SDEEG. He still has to have a MRI, speech language eval, and developmental testing.
