Obsessed with buckles, clasps and safety harnesses

My 14 month dd is strangely obsessed with all things buckles, clasps and safety harnesses.
She will play and investigate and obsessively try to work out how they work. She would routinely stand at her high chair for literally 30mins + just examining and clipping. Then when she'd mastered it she move onto her strollers.
She can clip and unclip her high chair and stroller and tries with all her might to unclip her car seat! She also has an adorable overall dress that I don't put her in anymore because she becomes fixated on the buckles and doesn't want to do anything else!
Is this wierd? i have tried finding toys that have clips and buckles but I can't seem to find any, maybe cos they aren't really toddler suitable cos she could pinch her little fingers?

My 17 mo is obsessed with balls. All day. Every day. Minute he wakes up he says "ball". First thing he does when getting up is play with his big blue ball that's as big as he is for about 30 minutes. He now has an obsession with my old laundry basket.
