food stamps for Easter candy

posted 20th Mar
Now i know a lot of BG moms are against buying sweets with good stamps but what about when it's for Easter, Christmas, ect....

I think it's fine anytime. In moderation.

As long as the person isn't spending 400+ out of the 500 they get on nothing but candy and junk for it it should be fine. You can spend like $20-$30 on candy for holidays and you get plenty for at least 5 kids if not more.

I see no problem with. People on food stamps that I know can't afford to give their children many things. Why shouldn't they get to treat their children every once in awhile? I don't have a problem with people on food stamps treating their kids to a special treat anytime they want to do so.

Me too.. And also none of my business what people spend their food stamps on. The government allows it.

I think if you can't scrap up the money to get it otherwise, it's fine. Kids don't understand that mommy and daddy don't have money to buy them candy on holidays, and i don't think the kids deserve the disappointment just because they're from low income families.

I don't care what people do with their fs.

I think as long as your kids can be fed and have good food in there bellies then if you spend some of it on some "spoiler foods" it's fine.

To everyone that says FS are fine, is it because it's for Easter candy or is that for any time? There was a FS debate ok while back and everyone in their said people should spend their own money on treats and food stamps only on things that were healthy..

I could care less how people use there food stamps. Enless it's my husband... i hate when he steals the fs card to go buy candy/soda/chips at the gas station.

Anytime. I see no reason to forbid "poor" families from getting to indulge like the rest of us. I make my own choices about what to feed my family. I think everyone should have that right. Regardless of wether or not they are using food stamps to do so.

I think buying treats are fine. But only as long as most of it is used for real good.
