Braxton Hicks or something else?? (I think BH)

posted 20th Mar
I asked a few friends if they've ever had Braxton Hicks (I mean, painful ones...) that also go up their sides into their back? That's kind of what seems to be happening with me, but only when I'm up moving around. As long as I'm sitting or laying down I'm fine. O.o One of my friends is yelling at me to go to the ER, but I don't want to go unless I absolutely have to. She's saying I'm in preterm labor, but I'm not really having any other symptoms. The pain is nothing too horrible, the "contractions" are so not timeable, maybe about 30 minutes apart, if even that close. I don't believe it's anything to worry about, I just wish the pain would ease up enough for me to get comfy in this chair. (I've been laying down half the day, and everything I've eaten has tried coming back up bc I've been laying down; I need to sit up.) I'm not leaking any fluids, no excessive discharge or anything. No bleeding or spotting. Just the occasional tightening sensation (having that right now bc of where DS is sitting) and the pain. what do y'all think?

I went to my doctor Monday. I thought I was having BH and are said no. BH are not painful at all, they are just a tightening. Well I had them for awhile and didn't think anything about it....little did I know I dialated to 2cm.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I have BH a couple times and they were so painful that i couldn't even lay down. I had to sit for about 10 minutes until it slowly went away. If you feel like you are in any danger then I'd go get checked out but otherwise i think you're okay.

if your feeling that bad today i would call dr asap in the morning, something could be going on in there. your still too early, only due 3 days after me and should not be having painful contractions. good luck, take care of yourself and that baby!

Make sure you are drinking water also. Dehydration can cause contractions.

most definitely, I've been drinking nothing but water today, minus a cup of hot chocolate to help my chocolate craving. The actual contraction pains have eased up, but my sides and back just started hurting, I guess I don't need to be getting down in the floor picking up stuff heh.

I do the exact same thing. I have had contractions for
The past month. Went to dr once and said baby was high and cervix was closed so I refused to take a shot to stop contractions. Reading up on the shot it even tells you it's not safe for baby or mother! Scary.
Anyway I tend to lay on couch nearly 24-7 bc contractions get more frequent more I do. Dr says if they are consistant go to er . Well mine are all the time nearly so I'd be there daily. Since I have no other affects I don't go. Got to my 29-40 wk ultrasound Monday . Hopefully ill know more then. This is third child.
