anyone with schitzophrenia?

Do you mind sharing your story? Does anyone in your family have it? How has it affected you. If you don't feel comfortable sharing, you can PM me. This was suggested to me in one of my threads.

My great grandmother and uncle had schizophrenia.

One of my best friend does and she's very open with it. It calmed down a lot but when her brother got sentenced to 20 years in prison, she lost it a bit again. They wee driving upstate to visit him and she started talking to "someone" who wasn't there. She will realize it a lot of the time and try to stop it from happening but other then a few times when something major has happened in her life, it doesn't affect her everyday living at all.

My dad has it. and everytime I talk to him after a huge fight, he tells me he wants nothing to do with me again. Its an ongoing cycle. I guess I just wanna know what its like on the outside looking in.

DH is schizophrenic bipolar. His manic episodes are psychotic and mimic schizophrenia. It's difficult at times because he's not aware of his actions in reality and he gets off into this whole other world where all different kinds of things go on. He hasn't had a massive episode in the time we've been married, but several minor ones where he started acting out because of imagined things. It's hard for us but I'm bipolar so it's easier for me to realize he's going into a cycle before he does, so I'm as prepared as I can be. We have serious boundaries. I will not tolerate drinking during a cycle, leaving the house in anger, throwing things around, slamming doors, or verbal attacks. I refuse to play into the episode and will not argue with him when he's being irrational. I'll explain to him why what he's saying is irrational, reassure him over whatever is bothering him or he's angry about, and I will not go further into the argument. It burns out fast when tryin to rile someone up doesn't work. If he says anything suggesting he wants to be or is going to be violent toward anyone, I will be on the phone with his doctor, no exceptions.

I have a cousin who is schitzophrenic. He slit his own throat once, nearly died. He is doing a lot better now, but it took many stays in mental hospitals & different medications to make him the way he is now. He also found that art & music help him cope with his disorder.

I have a family member that was misdiagnosed with it. While trying to come to terms with it before they discovered it wasn't what was going on she found an online community..... I'll try to find it.

It's not that bad, he always talks in codes on the phone because he thinks the government is listening to him.. and he thinks the government watches him through his tv screen. He acts like the government is after him, when they're not lmao. God bless his heart

i feel bad laughing about it but some of the things he says just make me want to die of laughter. He seriously acts like he's Americas most wanted or something.. constantly looking out the window thinking spies are hiding in trees recording him. we one time had to leave a movie because he thought the government had subliminal messages in the movie that were going to brainwash him. can't even talk to him on the phone without him saying 'DON'T SAY THAT, WE DON'T KNOW WHO'S LISTENING RIGHT NOW'

it all started out of no where 9 years ago.. i don't know what happened to him.
