Nursery tips, items you need, don't need?

Going to start working on baby's nursery this weekend.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips for the nursery? Organization tips?
things you needed in the nursery, what you wish you had?
did you buy anything for the baby that you didn't need? Something you wish you had??
What was your favorite buy or gift for baby??

I never bought a changing table. But we had a crib and dresser.

I like lots of extra blankets so if theres a mess you have back ups,plus we stocked up on rash cream and diapers....stuff you use alot of  

I wish I had gotten the Diaper Genie, everyone told me it was dumb because I can just throw it out in the trash... but throwing it out in the trash just stinks up the whole house!
Next kid, I'm with out a doubt getting it  

For me, it's been one of those "bed side cribs" I can't think of the exact name. but it's one that attach to your bed. Life savor with my daughter. she will not sleep laying flat, and this way she's close to me to keep an eye on her.

I got a diaper genie with my 2nd and it didnt hold much it attracted flie(so we emptied it more then if we just took it out) and it still smelled even with freshners. The little scented baggies work alot better

We really never used our changing table (I'm not even putting it up this time)
And we never used pacifiers, ds1 wouldn't take one. So that was a waste for us (:

Bibs, burp rags (TONS), some sort of glider, wipes and more wipes. I can't stand for things not to be organized and divided, so for me, a must is small bins to divide socks, onsies, blankets, burp clothes, lotions, ointments, bows and headbands, etc... I put the plastic organizers in the dresser drawers, and got pretty matching ones for the changing table.

Yeah, changing table is a huge waste of space to me. Waste of money and space.
