Do you let baby "air it out" ?

posted 19th Mar
DS is 6 months, and he's pretty much always in a diaper, except when he bathes and I lotion him up.

Do you let your DS or DD air it out, ie no diaper? Is there a reason to?

I do, just because it's funny to watch DD spaz because she loves being naked   Only for a few minutes though, and if it's right after she's peed so I can avoid cleaning that up.

I never did cause we didnt have excessive diaper rash issues and I would be too stressed about messes on the carpet and so on. I think the reason would be when a child has a lot of diaper rash issues to give the area some breathing time. OR just cause your child likes to be naked...

Yeah, lol he's almost two. He will sit there frozen if he does not have a diaper on. Like, won't move..at all.

But it helps with not getting a diaper rash

yea but i will usually make sure they are on a towel or something thick to soak any pee or catch any possible poop escaping. especially if they had a rash.

That's when I started because of diaper rash. He's 3, still in diapers  , and he spends quite a bit of time out of them.

I let my boys air out all the time, it's great for keeping their skin healthy. I actually would just strip them during their belly time, as boys tend to have the uncontrollable water hose effect if they're on their back.   When they were old enough to roll over things got a little more sporadic and they spent more time in diapers. I did leave the covers off my youngest so that he would get more air to his bum. Wish I'd used cloth with my oldest, but that's in the past and I can't go back now.

Not sure if there is really a 'reason' too, however, I do frequently let Jaslyn crawl around without a diaper. She loves it . She gets happy when she gets to crawl naked. I would just think it feels comfortable for them to get a little air once in while ;)

My kids love being naked, lol, my 9 year old is finally learning some modesty thank goodness. We may live on a farm but we do get customers in the summer and while they won't bat an eye at a streaking 2 year old, people get uncomfortable when kids are much older than that.

My mom lets her when she keeps her, so I guess I don't think it's necessaryto do it more often since she doesn't get diaper rash, and I'm not too thrilled to clean that. @ GrumpsMama- can you have your kid teach my DD how to be still? She is planning her naked escape while she works on her diaper needing changed.

DS is 11 weeks and loves having no nappy on. I give him about 10-15 mins of no nappy time between each feeding.
