kid's birthday- preschool
posted 19th Mar
Did you bring a treat/snack for your preschooler to share with the class on their birthday? My son is turning 3 on April 1. It's a Monday so he will be in school and I'm wondering if I should take something for his class.

My mom never done it with me, however I remember some kids parents done it. I'll probably do something little for DD when she gets in school.

I never bother... I don't think they can even feed other people's children someone else's snacks. If you really want to do it, put it in a carryout bag for each kid.

Eh, for a class of 2-3 year olds, I would not. Too messy. I would do it for 4 and up birthdays. But, if you do, I suggest something not as messy as cupcakes/cake. Maybe a cookie cake, and ask the teacher if there is any kids with special diets that you may want to keep in mine to bring something different for them.

Many classes (schools) have policies on "home made" treats. Due to everyone having allergies, or of course, the possibility of cross contamination from other illness that may be in your home.
Some will tell you to bring fruit snacks already prepackaged, or something similar. At least that is how my daughters Pre-K class is, and even my 8yr old daughers class.

Depends jn the school really. My sons class is encouraged to bring Somethig to celebrate the special days. But some classes say no. (My sons class is at a school so it is typical there)

I had LOTS of parents bringing in birthday snacks the last time I was teaching in a 2-3 classroom. Store bought things and home made. I would just speak the classroom teachers before hand

I have a Summer time baby and I was a summer time baby. I was so jealous that other kids got to bring things. Usually nothing home made though.

I would ask in advance, in both my children's school and child care we are not allowed to bring in any food items. So each year to celebrate we make little loot bags for them to hand out to their friends.

OK thanks. The school website says you're allowed to bring treats for the class on their birthday. I think I'm going to think about a healthy snack to bring, not cookies or cupcakes. His teacher has asked us not to send desserts in their lunches because it makes it harder to get them down for a nap.

I brought in cupcakes and a fruit salad. All store bought because it's the school's policy!
