Yes, vasectomy reversal is successful. The medical definition off success is that the vas is sewn back together is open and sperm return to the semen. There is a 98% success rate with micro surgical repair. From a personal standpoint, there is only a 50% chance of returning to full fertility. The other 50% of men are now infertile and cannot conceive without fertility treatments. The best results from reversal are in the first 1-2 years after vasectomy. While vasectomy is covered by insurance, reversal is not usually covered. The out of pocket patient costs are between $5,000- $10,000 for most reversal clinics. So the question really is that if you are talking reversal before the vasectomy, are you really ready for that decision. Storing sperm is about $60 per month or $700/year.
