Filing court papers.

If you're told you need to file your court papers by a certain date and you try filing them late, does the court still take them?

I'm not asking for me lol, but for someone I know.

watching..my stupid ex sent his mommy to show up with nothing filed for our last court date, the judge gave him a month extension and he has until tomorrow, im hoping he screws up again lol

ETA- i think they would accept them, but it would piss off the judge

I'm sure they would.

If its an answer to something no, the court won't take them unless you have a lawyer who comes up with an excuse for you.

If they are just filing something, yes the court will take them.

My son's dad and I have court on Thursday. He was told he needs his reply in by the 16th or 18th or something. He lives out of town and texted me today saying he's in town to serve me, and I also assume he's going to file his reply or he would have served me last week. I'm just wondering what they'll say cause he's late getting them in.

he cant serve you, he has to have someone over the age of 18 or a bay lift, my sons SD needs to reply by tomorrow and we go to court the 26th, the judge was not happy when he sent his mommy with nothing last court date lol they dont take well to people who cant get their smurf together.

They said because he lives in another town that he can serve me. Special circumstance or something.

And yeah, we had court last month but he filled his papers out all wrong and didn't have some information he needed. Court was remanded until Thursday to give him time to get his stuff together.

Loool my ex showed up to the first date with nothing filled out. The second date he didn't file anything or show up and still got a smurfing extension! The third time, I won sole custody lol

my ex is from cambridge but living in brazil and im from cornwall and he couldnt serve me his answer papers lol i guess our courthouse didnt like him lol

He just left a voice message saying that he forgot a piece of information and can't file today so he's going to on Thursday, the morning of our court date, and I'll be served then.

Unless I'm mistaken, he can't serve me day of court, can he??

my ex emailed me his "answer" and my lawyer said it was filled out completely wrong and on the wrong forms lol and he conveniently left the child support section blank lol our judge yelled at his mothers duty council to get a lawyer because they have no idea what theyre doing, and he gave them a month extension as per my exs request, he was also requesting a paternity test 4 years later lmfao and hasnt gotten that done! he harassed my lawyer for me to pay for it and she told him to go fly a kite lol so i bet next tuesday he drops the paternity test..which will piss the judge off even more lol

LOL my ex is fighting for a once a year visit LOL im not sure where you are but in canada the law is "its the childs right to know the father, not the fathers right to know the child" and my lawyer said good luck proving you have a beneficial and meaningful relationship with a kid you dont know LOL it should be interesting

Lol, he wants to file papers on the day of and expect them to update his file and smurf asap? Not happening. The people who work there have a million papers to file, he'll be thrown in a "to get to pile"... So sure he can serve you, but those papers are irrelevant if they're not in his file.

My ex apparently filled out the divorce part of the papers while trying to file for custody. He also put in there that he's requesting a paternity test but we've already done one lol.

He keeps telling me he can't afford court and his job is in jeopardy (my fault because I'm taking him to court, he says) because he keeps missing days and yet on his voice message said unless he gets joint or partial/shared custody, that he'll take me back until he does.
