Free Standing Ballet Barre...

I would love to surprise my daughter with a ballet barre for her birthday this year as she has become increasingly interested in the Ballerina phase, as of now she's improvising using whatever she can stack high enough. Now I lack complete creativity I figured I could buy a decorative curtain rod and glam it up a bit but what would I use as a stand?? It can't take up much room as we don't have much space but I'm lost! I tried to search google and youtube but didn't find much that was helpful!

Oh! You could get curtain pullbacks like this (only cuter):



And install them on the wall upside down and lay the curtain rod in them so they suspend it. BAM. DIY ballet barre!  

you could use those outside plant hangers. are you attaching it to the wall or free standing

Thats actually a really good idea the only problem is my landlord won't let me add new holes to the walls

I really want free standing because my landlord is a stickler for not adding new holes to the walls, and I figured free standing could double as portable

When we moved in there was a ton of holes in the walls I actually had to hang pictures to cover them, I think that's why she added a "one hole per wall" rule sucks when it comes to things like that though because I never would have thought of the pull backs and it would have looked adorable

Maybe you could call your landlord and explain? If you're good tenants, I don't see how she would be so unreasonable!

PVC pipes...make a wooden x-base for each side,attach the PVC vertically to each base, add the corner pieces, then the piece that will be the barre. Voila!
