Michaels sells a soccer ball shaped cake pan that you can turn into a baseball. If your worried about crumbs freeze te cake before you decorate it. It will be a lot easier. If you want to have real smooth icing but don't like fondant use the icer or spatula and dip it in very Hott water and " re ice" the cake but don't overload the water just enough to get it a lil wet but ha to be Hott water. I do have a white choc marshmallow fondant that's very easy to make and is good if you want it.
