SAHM resentment?

Do any of you other SAHMs deal with some friends who act very jealous towards the fact you are able to stay home?
We don't make TONS of money but we live comfortably.

I have friends that get really pissy about it. Like if they ask me to go do something, I say I just have to wait for DH to get home and I can see and they get pissy and say OH it must be nice. Well... sorry? what am I supposed to be single and struggling like all of you? or working my ass off somewhere when I don't need to be?
 

It just gets irritating sometimes, I get that not everyone is able to stay home but why be a dick to me because we're able to afford it?

Yup, I get it from some people too the "must be nice" and then a giant eye roll. It gets on my nerves really.

No because I don't have any friends with kids that aren't SAHMs.

If anyone acted like that to me i'd bitch out. lol. I never get out of the house. I dont have people to watch my son...so sometimes i think "it must be nice" to get out once in a while. I wouldnt have it any other way though...i like being the one to be with my son everyday.

Same here! They act like all we do all day is sit on our asses and watch tv.
I am a full-time student ON TOP of staying home with my kids and taking care of everything around the house.

That sucks.

Yes!! It happens to me quite often or they say bad things about SAHMs in front of me. I call em out on it and they give me the typical "I wasn't talking about you" excuse lol. I don't let it get to me...very often.

The few people I still talk to, when they ask to hang out and I say I'm busy they always say 'with what? Don't you just sit home all day'. Yeah that's all I do  

sahms are really common in my area. I just deal with more shock that no I'm not going to go back to my career.

Agreed. I love being home with my children, being the one to see all of their milestones, teach them things, watch them grow. It's just nice to be here all the time. I plan on getting a job or something when they are all in school but until then I will enjoy everything around here

I am to. That's why I hate that people act like I do nothing all day.

DH works his ass off and they act like I put him on a pedestal and do whatever he says.
Well I kind of do... but what the smurf. He works his ass off every single smurfing day of his life so we can have nice things, why wouldn't I?!

yeah? whats your smurfing point?
We have our own house, own 2 cars, feed/clothe our children, and make our house look nice.

I have a few friends who think DH and I are 'rich' because I don't work or because I was able to have a PT job and go to school before we had DS. They also seem to think that I have it really easy with DS because I'm married (I have DH to help me out). But, in reality they get more breaks than I do.

Yep and when people get snippy I just say: Ok well maybe Ill go to work and you can handle the 5 drs, 3 therapist, countless ER trips and illnesses and meds on top of being a moody/loving 4 y/o. *shrugs* that usually shuts them up

But I also hate how Im the go to person to watch anyones kid. I mean yah sometimes I dont mind but they see it as Im just at home sitting on my ass so whats a few more kids? Uhgg >.<

They all think I'm "stupid" for going to school. WHY?! I want a degree and why not do it while I have some time, I mean I do not have TONS of down time but I have enough to be able to do 18 credit hours a semester without issue.
