Paying on credit cards... Questions

posted 18th Mar
So I have two credit cards

Well three. My target card is paid off though.

The other two I used to the max and now I'm kicking myself.

The one is through GE Capital bank. With some ridiculous interest rate like 23% or something. Credit limit on that is 4500, balance is 3800. I've been paying it off slowly

The other is a discover card. Pretty low interest rate. Credit limit is 2500, balance is 1900.

I needed them to pay my tuition and fix major issues with my car. Now I got rid of that car because it was a money pit.

I'm trying to rebuild my savings it's pretty pathetic. How would you pay those cards off? Pay more on one? Both the same each month?

Snow ball it. Trow what you can at one while making the min on the other. When that one is paid off, transfer what you were paying to the other CC.

i would get a personal loan from the bank and pay off the higher interest rate one and lock into a lower apr with the bank if that doesnt work pay just interest on the smaller apr card and put more money to paying off the high apr

Pick the one that has the most interest and put all remaining money you have on it until its paid off, then start on the other. Paying each slowly will get you further in debt.

I actually completely paid of one with the other. 1: so my credit would improve because it was paid off, and 2: so I only had to pay one.
When it's paid off completely just use it to pay bills. Put all your monthly bills on it, and pay it off at the end of the month. If its paid off every month your credit score will come up alot!
Used one for bills. And the other for gas. So if you are ever in a bind you have extra cash... For stuff like your car and stuff. And you have a little longer to pay regular bills and gas if needed.

i paid off four in the last 2 years and the only way i could was by doing one at a time, when taxes or work (bartending) was good i would pay the a ton each time on the highest interest one and pay minimum on the rest. its so frustrating but you will get there. it doesnt hurt to call them and see if the interest can be lowered. I did that with one of mine.

Pay the GE with the most interest rate first. Make minimums on the other until the first is paid off. I do much better when I pay 1 heavily at a time.

I would pay as much as you can on the highest interest and minimum on the lowest.
