How much formula is too little?

My son will be six months old in two days. He has always been a HUGE eater. He had been eating 35-40oz of formula per day for three months if not longer. He started solids at five months but continued to consume the same amount of formula. For the past 1-2 weeks he is only wanting to drink 20-24oz of formula a day. I stopped his solids and it didn't make a difference, he just doesn't want as much formula. His pedi doesn't seem concerned but to me it seems like it isn't good for him to suddenly be drinking so little. Is some normal or should I be concerned? I am worried about it affecting his growth if he is getting too little nutrients.

my boys did that and I just gave them more solids, pedi said sometimes they just get tired of the bottle and like the food more..or something like that

I put him back on and he eats 9oz of solids per day but I would rather him have formula since it has the nutrients he needs in it.

try putting some jar food in his bottle? maybe he like the taste

Thank you. I couldn't find anything searching on my own. I wouldn't add to bottle, he used to have rice added for reflux and that is not a good habit plus he does just fine eating with a spoon.

OP, I've heard that 24oz-32oz is "normal" intake

I took him totally off solids and it didn't make a difference, he still would only eat 20 or so ounces of formula. I don't know what happened and why he suddenly wont eat as much. He basically went from eating too much, he has always ate what his pedi considered too much, to eating too little. His pedi said she isn't concerned unless he starts to lose weight. He used to eat every 2-3 hrs and would go insane when he decided he was ready to eat. Now he goes 4-6hrs without eating and doesn't seem real concerned about getting his bottle when he does decide he is hungry.
