i dont even know what to say... i couldnt sleep at all last

posted 17th Mar
a friend on FB posted the original post then one of her friends wrote the bottom two... at first i thought maybe she meant "minutes" nope.. she even corrected it and wrote "hours". i wanted to throw up. am i over reacting? no child should be left to CIO for 3 hours!!! right? I mean... isnt it 10 mins and check on them? i dont believe in it but i really dont think that if a baby cries for more then 10-20 mins that their fighting sleep... they obviously NEED something!! I didnt say anything because its not my place.. but i know of this girl and her baby is under 5 months. i was awake in bed for hours last night, laying there... thinking about the poor baby, crying when the mom needed her the most.

She didn't say she didn't check on her in that time. I think you are quick to judge the situation without all the facts.

It doesn't say she didn't check on the baby at all. Just said the baby cried for 3 hours. It happens sometimes.

Wether she chexked on her or not that's A LONG TIME. IMO.

Even if she checked on her ten times, 3 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to leave a child crying. Clearly it didn't work.. if the baby passed out it was from exhaustion from crying for so long and not from he/she grasping the whole 'cio' method.

nope i dont know if she didnt check on him but a baby crying for 3 hours is obviously... not tired, needs to be changed or is hungry... you cant exactly force a baby to your sleep schedule by letting them CIO. its not like its just going to... *poof* them on your sleep patterns. i dont know... i guess it seems very lazy and irresponsible of the parent to do it... IMO

Honestly... the baby will be okay. I know people like to cite a bunch of "studies" of how emotionally damaging CIO supposedly is but honestly, do YOU remember what happened to you when you were five months old? Do you remember that mommy set you down and let you cry for a while? No... so, really, I promise you this baby will be okay. You don't have to lose sleep over it.

I started CIO kind of young, but mine never cried for that long so I don't know how I would feel. The most I ever got was about an hour, and this was after he was checked changed fed bathed everything. Nothing was wrong, and I was literally around the corner keeping an eye on him. I don't mean to sound rude, but you don't know all the facts. People rarely blast EVERY little detail at once. If it's bothering you that badly, just talk to her about it. Start a conversation, and maybe get some links to back you up if you can find them so you're giving her constructive criticism instead of just cutting her down

My kid has had moods where she'll cry for hours. There's nothing you can do about it sometimes. I think you're being overly judgmental. I know I'm not a bad mom.
