I think it has less to do with the father/child relationship and more with the age and maturity level of the child.
Yes, I think they would call an older child to testify against their father. Especially if they were the only witness.

Possibly depending on age of child and severity of crime.

No they couldn't be forced to, they are protected from that in the same way spouses are. Unless the child is the victim.

usually children around 7 and under they just don't bother and then after that age they usually have the child evaluated to know what the "truth" means and the difference between right and wrong..

i read a book by nora roberts and everyone thought the dad killed the mom and the 2 year old witnessed and was terrified of her father so they did use that in the book to convict him among other things.
