not losing weight.. any helpfull suggestions?

I really let myself go and my stomach is disgusting.. So I've been trying to lose some weight by June. I've been eating healthier.. Tons of veggies salad everyday chicken fish tuna yogurt and granola egg whites you know .. I've been at the gym 5-7 days a week doing either the stair climber our elyptical for 30-60 minutes and then leg presses and free weights. It's been about 3 weeks, no physical change except less boat and I've gained 1.7 pounds. It's so much easier to keep pushing when I see even a very small result but there's nothing! I've really been pushing myself at the gym and eating much more more healthier and a calorie deficit of 500.. I just need tips, what am I doing wrong?

You're gaining muscle and don't forget muscle weighs more than fat. Usually takes about 2 months to see a difference just keep it up.

You didn't gain it in 3 weeks and you won't lose it in 3 weeks.

Limit your cardio to 20 minutes. Then bust your ass lifting. To get results you really need to be pushing yourself.

Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat.

Muscle is just denser than fat is.

Only 20 minutes? I heard to lose fat cardio is more important.. And I've definitely been pushing myself way past the limit .. I literally feel like I'm going to die some days on the stair climber.. And I lift until my legs/arms literally can't go anymore..

Um, yeah, it does. If you have 1 cubic inch of fat and 1 cubic inch of muscle the muscle will weigh more BECAUSE it is more dense.

A pound is a pound. I don't understand how that's difficult for people to comprehend.

By volume, sure, but a pound of fat is 16oz and a pound of muscle is 16oz.

Just because it seems to weigh more doesn't make it so.

Good God. If you put a pound of feathers by a pound of lead you can also say that lead and feathers weigh the same too. But, volume wise, muscle and lead weigh more than feathers and fat when dealing with volume

Whoever told you that has never read anything about fitness.

You have 20 minutes of glycogen in your liver to fuel your cardio. Then your body uses your muscle. Which is why you never see runners who are muscular.

To lose weight, you need to build muscle, meaning lifting weights. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism. Which is what causes you to burn calories when you're not working out.

This is why the biggest loser works. They're not running all day every day. They're lifting and doing weighted and resistance exercises.

never thought of it like that.
is that why the people at the gym (personal trainers) only recommend 20 minutes on the elliptical and then the rest lifting weights, stretching and stuff?

so If I did 20 minutes on the elliptical in the morning after breakfast, and then went to the gym a couple hours later and did 20 minutes on a exercise machine and then lifted weights, that would work out too?
