Motivation?

posted 17th Mar
I thought I had finally gotten a bit of motivation to start running... and no, it's gone. We ran for a mile, and walked a mile this past Thursday, and I'm STILL sore. Which obviously makes me not want to run. We've started making small changes to eating healthier, but we need exercise in there. It's just so hard to tell myself I need to run... when I'm already so sore.

Help?   This was the smallest I had gotten (190)... and I'm back up to 220   I never wanted to be at this place again. I went from 265 down to 190, on dieting alone. So obviously I want to work out to help tone that skin up. Sigh.

You must be tall. When I was 220 I was an oompa loompa.

I'm 5'7. My weight has always distributed well. But I can totally feel the difference between 190 and 220   Those shirts I was wearing in my OP are size medium. They're very snug/short now

The cure for being sore from a workout?

Another workout!!!!---not super strenuous, but working the muscles will push out the soreness FAST! Do a moderate workout again. Ab1 mile jog or some such. The first 5 mins will hurt, but then it will ease up.

I hate working out. Especially running. When I was in the army that was the most dreaded thing for me.

I need to remind myself of that   We were gonna run again on Friday, but ended up not doing it. I was DEAD from running the previous night, then working 4am-11.

Best moment of my weight loss journey was getting on the treadmill to run and realizing that my gut didnt bounce!!!

(I'm 5'3 and went from 177 to 144 between March and August before I got preg, now weigh 157 at 30w---8lb gain as i had regained a few lbs before pregnancy)

Get the app, couch to 5k. Seriously, it will build your momentum up so it's easier to run, which makes it fun

If the soreness is what's getting you, I'd suggest getting a bike or an exercise bike. I bought an exercise bike with our tax refund ($150) and it's a LOT lower impact. I ride 20 miles a day and I haven't been all that sore at all   DH and I walked to subway, last weekend and I was so sore the next day I wanted to chop my legs off. I love my bike and I'm sure you would too

I was thinking of getting something like this, or a treadmill.

I hate treadmills. I don't like walking/running though :/ I'd imagine the treadmill would make you sore as well

You don't have to start with running! lol, try walking every day, 2-3 miles, or about an hour. Push the stroller. See some pretty flowers? Squat 3 times to pick them up. Don't have time to walk? when cleaning the house practice de-ja-vue and walk across the room 10 too many times   little habits make the biggest difference!
