Do I seek medical or psych help?

I don't ask this often, but **please don't quote***
This is going to be very very hard to understand or comprehend so sorry in advance.
Off and on over the years, I have periods over a few days where I have trouble touching things with my fingers. Materials such as cotton, etc give me the heebie jeebies/chills and give me a weird feeling up into my teeth. Makes me nervous. It'll be for a day or two, then it'll be over and won't happen again for a couple of years. Its been more often lately.
I have always had an issue with the liner of the inside of roofs of cars but lately its been pretty much everything.
I'm wondering if its an issue with my actual nerve endings or something. Does this sound like something neurological or psychological? I feel like I should know this. Lol

could be mental ... my uncle is exactly the same and can't eat peaches for that reason. After immersion therapy he seems to be fine.

holy smurf Elie!
I've NEVER been able to describe that feeling, but YES I feel it in my teeth with cotton too. Cotton and when I take thick socks out of the washing machine.
I smurfing hate it. As soon as I read about not being able to touch cotton I felt it in my teeth.

It sounds like it could be sensory related. I would ask your dr about it because I don't think it's psychological. . Edited, because that was kind of irrelevant lol
As for the hurting in the teeth.. I get that. Or my ears ring or my eyes hurt. Sometimes a combination of all three. There are certain materials I can't touch, it hurts too much.

I feel like that on rare occasions, like the skin on my hands is too dry and if I touch a towel it hurts my teeth.
For me it seems linked to a phase in my menstral cycle? LIke around the time I get my period. Weird.

It could be either one. I'd seek medical help first, and if they can't find anything, then talk to a psychiatrist. But it does sound more neurological than psychological.

I have the same issue, I've been that way since I was a child. Corduroy does it to me, too.

me too. sometimes it doesnt bother me, but other times its horrible. touching one thing will set it off so more fabrics bother me.
its mainly fabrics that kill me. my skin cant handle feeling certain things and then they will buzz and be verry uncomfortable for hours after.
the feeling is almost indescribable... it hurts sometimes too in a way

The feel of cotton, fleece, paper towels, toilet paper and Kleenex make me gag, give me the chills-blegh, it's a terrible feeling.
I think it's psychological. It's like nails on a chalk board.

The way car headliners feel make me want to punch babies.
Valore freaks me out too..
I think its normal unless it interfers with everyday living.

Could be sensory issues.

OK. So with it being this common.... maybe I seek NO help? Lol. Here I was thinking I was some kind of freak or weirdo and turns out that it's pretty common. I seriously feel a lot better.

Is it impeding on your everyday life? If so yes seek help.
I'm tactile defensive. Sticky puts me into panic attacks, chalk makes me feel like my skin is being riped off.

Why you no read the no quote part Charyse??????
It's not really affecting day to day life, it's mostly like... if I need to adjust my pants or pull the blanket up over myself or something, I will it just makes me shudder... if that makes any sense? I can still do stuff, I just hate the feeling
