Repaying debts

Do you make it a point to repay your debts? Are they top priority for you? I'm not talking about credit card debt, etc. I'm talking about if a friend, individual or family member loans you cash or buys you something.

I just remembered that I owe a lady some money from a couple of years ago and I don't have her phone number anymore, and I'm kind of freaking out about it because I have always made it a point to pay people back ASAP.

I do, i always feel like money can burn bridges really quick so if I borrow from someone I know and not a company I make a point to pay it as soon as I can.

I would pay back the person I borrowed from ASAP. I don't think I've had debt of any kind.. I HATE borrowing money

I pay back people ASAP... and I usually pay back more just as a, "thank you,".

I do ... it took me 3 years and giving him all my tax returns but I finally managed to pay my dad back for paying my insolvency debt for me,

Since being married to DH, we haven't borrowed or owed any money to our family or friends. However, in college occasionally friends would loan me money, or vice versa. I always make a point to pay them back promptly. It's important to me, I dislike being on the losing end of a bad debt (who doesn't? lol).

On the other hand, DH & I have loaned (more like given) money to family/friends. Sometimes we are paid back, other times we aren't. I don't hold it against them though. In a perfect world, everyone would pay us back, however the people we loan money to aren't in the same financial position as we are, so we don't expect much from them.

I think it's awesome of you that you're attempting to pay your friend back. Don't freak out about it too much though. If you don't have her contact information, there's not much you can do. Don't beat yourself up over it.  

Yes, always. Although I've never borrowed a handsome amount of money from anyone. The last time I borrowed money from anyone was when I was 17 and it was from a friend. I forgot to pull $20 from the ATM while I was at work for my cab ride in the morning (cab didn't accept cards). My dad wouldn't let me borrow $20 and repay him the next day since we were arguing, so I borrowed it from a friend.

On the other hand I have loaned over 3 grand to my cousin, which she has paid everything back now, but she takes her sweet ass time repaying it and has borrowed from others while still owing me (and not paying me). Since then I don't 'loan' anyone money. If it's a small amount I just tell them not to worry about paying me back.

I usually try to repay it quickly unless they say something like "Don't worry about it, you don't have to repay us, etc" along those lines. In that case, I still pay them back but I might space it out a little longer since they were honestly not expecting the money back. But under normal circumstances I do try to repay what I owe in a timely manner. If somthing comes up I let them know "Hey I was planning to give you this...but this came up so I will get you next week" or something.
