Computer people, help please

I just turned my laptop on and there is a HUGE vertical bar down the right side of my screen. I don't know what it is.



The smurf is wrong with it?

Your video card is going out. The video card is built into the whole motherboard. You're going to have to replace your laptop.

Warranty?

I didn't pay for one, just have the limited 1 year warranty and I don't know if it will cover this.
I'll call and check though.

Manufacture warranty's are usually a year. You might be able to call the company and get a replacement. If you bought it from an office supply or an electronics store, you might be able to take it in to see if they can replace it.

It's a manufacture warranty. It's meant to cover stuff like that.

Could be your screen or the connectors from screen to motherboard. I had a dell that did weird things when the screen was going out. If you are able to, plug it into an external monitor to rule the screen out. If its on the external screen, its your video card. If it doesn't show up on the external screen, its the laptops screen.

I bought it at Walmart.

I took a screen shot and the line doesn't show up, and when i move my cursor it disappears under it.

You can probably replace it then if you still have the receipt.

If wal Mart is unable to do it though, I would recommend calling the actual company who made the product.

Just found the receipt and I guess I have had it a year. I bought it March 13th of last year -____-

If you took a SS and the line doesn't show up then it is probably just the monitor or, the wire from the screen to the mother board could be loose.

Do you think it's something that can be fixed easily and inexpensively? I don't want to pay more than it's worth to have it fixed. If it's gonna be too much I might as well buy a new one.

If it's the monitor, you might as well replace the whole thing.

If it's the cord, it can be fixed cheap.

You can look into computer repair places, just make sure they also do laptops (Most places only do desktops).

Even though you are past the manufacture warranty, you might still have a chance at getting a hold of the company and getting it repaired through them for like $30.00. (Don't quote me on that price, it is just a guestimate.)
