It Finally Happened... :(

Me: *watching a video of a baby taking his first steps with his daddy*
DS: Oooo, baby!
Me: Yes, that's a baby. He's learning to walk.
DS: Oooo, daddy too!
Me: Yes, that's the baby's daddy.
DS: Where's my daddy? Want a daddy!
Me: What about Grandpa?
DS: Grandpa, no daddy. Peter (my brother) daddy. My daddy!
Me: No, it's just Mommy for now.
DS: Ooooo. Mommy, yogurt?
Me: *laugh* Yes, you can have some yogurt.

I feel so inadequate right now. Not because DS isn't content with me, but because he deserves more than just me.

If his dad is a loser, you're exactly what he deserves. He doesn't deserve a loser who will be in and out. One day he'll understand. My daughter is finally understanding that her dad is a POS.

Me, too... it's always easiest to trick myself into thinking one parent is enough when he's not caring about a second parent.

Well, that's the part I'm so worried about explaining. His biological father was a rapist, but I was engaged at the time and that guy gave it his best shot, but he just wasn't able to deal with everything. I consider that guy to be his Dad. Even after we split up he still tried to stay in his life, until this drama with his parents a year and a half ago. I haven't heard from him since.
