Stuttering all of a sudden
posted 16th Mar
My 2.5 year old daughter just started stuttering the other day. She never had the problem before and now I feel like it is pretty severe since she stutters for a good 10 seconds before every sentence. She went to her dads house on Wednesday at about 330 and it started there. She had never done it before, not even that morning. I don't know what's going on. The kids said that nothing happened while they were there. Can it be a phase? She's always been very clear when she talks so Im thrown off by this.

It's a phase. They get excited and don't focus. Tanner used to do it all the time about that age.

My 26mo has just started doing this, I think it's normal. They're still not 100% comfortable with their speech and theres so much going on in their brains that their mouths can't keep up!

Thank you ladies! That makes me feel a lot better. My 6 year old never did it so I was concerned.

I'm in the same boat as you. My 2.5 year old daughter literally out of the blue developed a pretty major stutter and has never had any speech issues before. Heartbreaking because she realizes that she is struggling to get a word out and says "I can't talk - I have the hiccups"
