Well seeing as i'm sure my DH and your SO probably had a very different experience growing up to him it doesn't matter. DH's mother is just something else, his childhood wasn't the best with her, she was a druggie and ended up in prison for stealing thousands from him along with other things. DH could give a smurf less what happens to his mom, so he doesn't care if i get along with her or not, his grandma on the other hand is another story because she was his saving grace in a way, but i love her so it doesn't matter. But now if she said something about me or one of my children yes that would bother me, your SO might want you to get along with her but if she's not willing to do the same it's not going to work KWIM?
