Quoting You and me + 3:" How do I know when my son is done eating? He's 4 months. I started him on bananas last week and tonight ... [snip!] ... whole thing or half or are there any indicators that he is done? Right now he's gone through half of it and is still eating."Usually first indicator is when they start playing with the spoon with their tongue, or spitting the food back out.
Quoting lolajessup:" That's the problem with early solids. Unless they refuse it. That's why it's more developmentally appropriate to let them feed themselves because then they'll eat what they are ready for."This.

Quoting You and me + 3:" <blockquote><b>Quoting lolajessup:</b>" That's the problem with early solids. Unless ... [snip!] ... overeat and get sick. My son is a big boy and seemed to stop getting full of the milk alone so I was told I could start solids."You just feed them more formula/breastmilk then. At 4 months old there is a still very high chance than his digestive tract is not ready and could potentially cause issues (allergies, obesity, ect) later in life.
Quoting S U Z I E:" <blockquote><b>Quoting 5 til Gwen:</b>" You should give solids after their liquid food. ... [snip!] ... give them breast milk or formula... OP- As you add foods, the amount of breast milk or formula you're using should decrease...."Your joking right. Breastmilk/formula should always be offered first and solids are in addition to that not to replace.
