Armpit Temp

posted 15th Mar
Are you supposed to add one degree when checking temp in the armpit? That's what I was always told. My 3 year old daughter woke up with super red cheeks. Checked her temp and it was 103 checking in her pit. She NEVER gets sick so I'm not really sure what to do. Motrin? Lukewarm bath? Poor thing hasn't even wanted to play today, she's just been bundled up in a blanket on the couch saying she's cold. When I ask her if she feels bad, she says she's fine. But she did fall asleep on the couch, which she NEVER does. She doesn't even want to take her nap 90% of the time

its funny that you asked that lol. I had my daughter 3 weeks ago and she had to stay in the NICU for the next 2 to 3 months but they let me change her and empty out her poop bag, give her baths and do her temp and I was getting a temp of 96.7 and I always heard you do add 1 degree and she said no not when doing it in her arm pit.

My ped told me it's a rule for older thermometers, like really old. Usually the packaging it comes with when you buy it will tell you.
