Measuring Two Weeks Behind?

posted 15th Mar
At my 30 week 6 day check up, my OB used the tape measure thing on my stomach and told me I measured 28 weeks.
My ultrasounds have been pretty spot on when it comes to date, even into the second trimester.
Since I was also told at this appointment that I'm severely anemic, I'm worried it means baby is falling behind with growth because of how sick I have been with HG and anemia.
I know it's normal for ultrasounds to be up to a few weeks off in the third trimester, but what about the tape measure thing? Should I be worried?
TIA.

He seemed very worried, but about the anemia. Not sure if that effects growth.
Thank you.

I measured 2 weeks behind with my first and he was a 8lb 3oz baby at 39 weeks and I measured 4 weeks behind with my second and she weighed 7lbs 14 oz at 38 weeks. It doesn't really have that much bearing on how well baby is doing. They check on anything that is off by more than 2 weeks by doing a follow up u/s. If the u/s shows normal then they don't worry about it.

That tape measure is used to measure the height of your uterus. Did he order another u/s for a more detailed look? That's what they really focus on.

No don't be worried! I measured three weeks ahead with DD for the last bit of my pregnancy and she was born 40w3d at 6lbs 10 oz so definitely not accurate with my belly measurements. It's only two weeks... completely normal and doesn't accurately give idea of baby's size.

The baby could be lying low in your pelvis. Unless you are like 10 weeks off, I wouldn't worry too much. At one point during this pregnancy I was measuring 7 weeks ahead (still am I think) but the baby is measuring perfectly on ultrasound. My uterus is slightly tilted, so I think that it helps cause being off.

No he didn't. He said he'd rather II measure a bit behind than ahead.
Something about how if I measured ahead my body might think it's time to deliver

Idk.

Thank you.
I remember being told after an ultrasound with DD at 22 weeks 4 days and another at 28 weeks 2 days that she'd probably be around 7 pounds 15 OZ based on her rate of growth.
She wasn't. She was 5 pounds 14 OZ t her birth at 39 weeks. So I know even that can be off.

Seven weeks Yikes. Are you really physically uncomfortable?
I guess I won't worry about it then. Have another check up at 36 weeks so I'll see how she's doing then.

I don't think he likes those measurements because everyone carries different and stuff. I never once had them do it!
