It's called Qat. Popular in some African countries as well as in Yemen. It's basically leaves that are cultivated and then you stuff as much of that smurf as you can in your cheek and get high as a kite. You leave it in your cheek for a good hour or more. I've also heard of it being drank as tea. Pretty much every Yemeni I know chews it, and if you have Yemeni-owned groceries in your area and walk in and see them with a big fat cheek, you know that it's because of the qat.

Effects? Euphoria. Energy. Excitement.

No. But I'm against weed, cigars, cigarettes, drugs of pretty much any kind. I do t ever take perscription medications unless I really need it.

Nope because I'm against using drugs to make you "high". Only alcohol is okay in moderation once you reach the drinking age, IMO.

Long term, yes. Risks of oral cancer and green-stained teeth.
Short term, just being happy and hyper.  


70-80% of the male population of yemen between ages 16-80 chew it   And the majority of their fresh water sources go toward the cultivation of it. It's very beloved there. haha.
