Worth Buying?

posted 15th Mar
A 2006 Toyota Matrix XR with 170,500 miles on it. It looks in great condition. You can clearly tell it's been taken care of. They are asking $5600 which is what KBB books it for. I want to find a car we can pay out of pocket for. I really do not wanna finance another car. Too much of a pain. And plus where DH has medical bills we can't afford to pay on I don't see trying to finance a car being very easy even though he had bought a new car and paid for it in five years. What do you ladies think?

The mileage is a bit high for a 2006 but it not horrible. As for the price I'm not sure, I would look online and see how much other people are asking

My Mom has one of those and she has nearly 200k miles on it and only minor things have went out. It's a Toyota so it can handle that kind of mileage. As long as the pricing is spot on with KBB I'd say go for it.

SO is a mechanic and knows A LOT about cars he said he would offer him $4,800, mainly because it has a good amount of miles. He said the most he would pay is $5,000.

I would say go for it if KBB is agreeing with the price. Toyotas last forever.

Also my mom had hers in the shop recently due to some recalls. Can't remember what year she has but I'd check and see if that year is affected and whether or not the owner took it in for repairs. If not, it's covered regardless. You'll just have to do it.

I think the 06 was for the headlights and the recall came out back in 06 I believe. Surely to god they have taken care of that haha. But i will ask. I think if I could jew them down to 5 grand it would be worth it. My husbands ex's dad worked for toyota and sore by them. He bought his daughter one with over 200k miles on it and it didn't tucker out till way past 300k miles. I really love this car. And I swear I don't see financing being a good option for us right now. He is being so hard headed over this. I've even offered to go with like and early 2000 corolla or something for cheap that has been taken care of and he is just whining about how he doesnt want to have to buy another car in a few years. Idk. This is aggravating haha.

I agree. I would only buy a Toyota or Honda with that kind of miles.

Check NADA.com.
That's actually what most dealers go by not KBB.

I checked and NADA goes for about the same. So they are asking a pretty fair price. If they will get back with me and can look at it though I still may try to get them down on the price some.
