home remedies for craddle cap?

posted 15th Mar
I am pretty sure my son has craddle cap. He has brown/yellowish flakes on the crown of his head suddenly. Anyone have any advice/remedies for getting rid of it and keeping it gone?

Coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, baby oil, or a warm wet cloth and use a soft brush to loosen the flakes.

I used olive oil then I massaged his scalp with a baby brush during his shampoo. It disappeared after a few months

I used olive oil and it worked well. She even had it in her eyebrows.

I will try baby oil before his bath today. Do you know what causes it? I give him 3 baths a week and lotion him and brush his hair every day. I could bathe more often but was told not too because it will dry his skin.

D to rVaseline. Coat it in vaseline then comb it out. Wash their hair with head and shoulders.

My pedi actually gave me a little stick with like a tiny scooper on the end to rake it off with,it was the best tool.

I bought stuff right in the baby isle at walmart. it was about 3 dollars in a turquoise bottle that said cradle cap care. Put it on his head brushed it and every little flake was gone in 5 minutes.

I'm told that it's unknown what causes it, but it had nothing to do with poor care or hygiene. It happens to a lot of babies. I'd put the baby oil on his scalp and massage it in, then gently loosen it with a soft baby brush and brush it out. Everything others have suggested so far all work as well ;)

I hate "Cradle Crap" its so gross and it just appears....nothing you have done wrong. With DS before bathtime I would massage with baby oil and let it sit for 1/2 an hour or so and then give him his bath. I would give him a nice massaging shampoo and I would really try and rub it pretty well but also being aware of the soft spot and so on....you dont want to rub too hard! Most importantly you dont want to pick at it cause you could hurt your babe. Whe he had it really bad I would bathe him more often so I could shampoo his hair more often to help keep it at bay...then one day it just goes away :-)

Nothing really worked on DD and it eventually went away. Just regular baths.
