Umbilical granuloma treatment

At my sons 1 month visit his doctorvnoticed that he had a umbilical granuloma. Is Dr treated it with a silver nitrate stick and we were told to come back a week later to see if it needs to be treated again. Yesterday he went back and had to have a second treatment, is normal doctor wasn't there so another doctor in the office did the treatment. Now I noticed my sons skin around his belly button is a light brown color, the doctor didn't say this would happen and it didn't happen when his normal doctor treated it first time. can anyone tell me if this was supposed to happen or if the doctor just messed up and burnt him. I will try to get my phone to let me upload a picture...

Yes it is supposed to happen. My sons did and it worked so maybe it wasn't done right or well enough the first time?

Maybe. His normal doctor didnt seem to do it as long as the 2nd doctor did. And she actually explained things to me. (after the first visit I had to google what the granuloma was because his normal doctor didnt tell me much of anything)
