Child abuse?

Do you consider washing a child's mouth out with soap abusive behavior?

Was it ever done to you as a child?

Do you think it is as commonly practiced as it possibly was 20 years ago?

I would find it abusive if done to me, so I wouldn't do it to my child. I haven't heard of anyone that I know doing it. I wouldn't do it. I'm not sure if I find it abusive if others do it.

I don't think so. I try not to do things to my child that are smurffy and that I would not want done to me.

I got my mouth washed out with soap a few times. I don't think it's child abuse, but then again, I don't think spanking is child abuse either.

Of course it's not practiced like it was back when we were kids. You can't do any sort of actual parenting to your own child without someone stepping in and accusing you of abuse. That's why we have a bunch of delinquent sissies running around these days.

I remember as a child my god parents did that to me and I was thinking about it today........the only think it taught me was to watch my mouth around them. I don't even think I said anything THAT bad.

I am not sure I believe it is abusive but I also don't think it is beneficial.

I don't think it's "abuse". But I would never do it to my child. But maybe I should because she's got a potty mouth from hell! hmmm wonder where she get's in from ;)

My brother and I both had our mouths washed out with soap many times, and I don't consider it child abuse...but I don't intend on doing it to my children. I don't see the point really...it doesn't do anything but embarrass and piss of the kid. lol

I don't think it's really abusive. Just tough love.
I've never had it done, and probably wouldn't ever do it to my kid. I don't think it is done hardly at all anymore. Maybe people realized how disgusting it was?

My kid is sassy. She doesn't say bad words, but earlier she Duh'd me. I was like are you serious kid? Then I told her I loved her and she ignored me, I told her "I said I love you" and this brat said so?

She's starting wayyyy too early. I may end up busting out the bar of soap and taking it old school on her ass.  

I had my mouth washed out with soap a few times as a kid, it was nastay! Is it abuse? No not to me. Would I ever put soap in my kid's mouth? HELL NO. I honestly don't know if it is still practiced these days as much, but I am pretty sure it isn't.
