Just curious why is it taking so long to get put on methadone? Ive never been a addict but my sister is so i know how hard it is to quit. I just hope that you can quit or extremely reduce for your babies sake and your sake!! good luck!

Could you check yourself in to a rehab clinic? COnsidering you're pregnant they should be more than happy to get you in there and weaned off as gently as possible for the sake of the baby. I hope you can find the help you need

Do they have a methadone clinic near you? Can you go in and just beg them? I have never been an addict, but I know many good moms that are currently on methadone. Also have you looked into a state run rehab? Sometimes they have beds available for pregnant women. Some will even allow your children to come with you. Good luck hun!

I really don't think you should be bringing a baby into your situaton. Methadone is just as bad for a fetus. I'm sorry I even read this.

the only advice i can give you is to try your hardest to quit. cut down as much as you can. keep calling your dr. keep calling methadone clinic. good luck!

i know that methadone is bad for a baby too, but it's better than heroin, and better then what withdrawls do to your baby.

it's taking so long because i didn't want to go to a clinic i wanted to go thru my ob, but i dont see him till april.24 . ill be almost 4 months by then.
so i found a place that does a 90 to abstinence program where they will only have you on it for 90 days and then i'll be off it all. so my baby wont go thru withdrawls after birth.

and yes it is very hard, but i have no problem stopping for my baby, i just want to do it the smart way.

the only rehab place i could go to said they can't take me because i am preganat

Where the hell did you get the idea that the baby won't withdrawal from methadone? It's also a DRUG. Your baby will be suffering in the NICU addicted to something that can potentially kill it. It takes weeks or even months to fully wean them.
