Agreed! There is no reason to abort her baby! She wants help and to not hurt her baby. She won't be a perfect mom but none of us are! Not a single one! She wants to have a happy healthy baby and that alone will make her a good mom. Addiction is a hard road to travel and I give OP props for trying to get the help she needs for her babies sake!

I agree fully, but from what i know about the heroin world is that you have to WANT to quit to actually quit. I've also heard that suboxen is the best drug out there for heroin treatments because you can shoot/smoke/snort it, its a strip that dissolves under your tongue.. My prayers are being sent your way!!!

From everything that has been said in this thread alone I am disgusted with this site. Mara created this site so everyone can connect and get the help they need yet over half of what has been said in here has been 100% negative and depressing. I am saddened by this.

I am too but I've been feeling this way for a while.

I joined in hopes of finding help and advice and support but I haven't made a single post yet because of some of the things I read, half the people on here just bash for the hell of it or think they know what's right for every person so they go off telling that person how horrible they are. Honestly I'm scared to make a post asking for advice or support. That's why I kinda just read and comment on others posts and leave advice when it's something I've experienced or if someone is due for congrats or prayers

No one can make this decision for you, just do what's best for you and the baby. I wouldn't suggest abortion though you'll most likely end up regretting it. Like people are saying go to rehab centre or go on a program until you've had the baby   but what ever you decide to do good luck!  

OP feel free to message me, I was in your situation.I don't like talking about it too much on here because of judgmental uneducated smurfs like them! I don't wanna make this too long but ignore those immature little "know it alls" because honestly EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING THEY SAID IS WRONG AND JUDGE MENTAL AND NOT TO MENTION HIGHLY UNEDUCATED!!!! Which is why they stopped replying obviously because they got called out.Your doing exactly what needs to be done and trust me you aren't alone there are soooooo many mothers on methadone.My OB informed too that not all babies are born with withdrawals,he said a great many are but there is some who don't experience it! He also said that the dosage don't matter,that he's seen woman on the lowest possible dose have babies with withdrawals opposed to woman on a lot higher dose have babies with out any signs or symptoms,its about the luck of the draw I guess.IF the baby is born with withdrawals the ween the baby off AND as long as your doing it the right way,clinics,seeing counsulors,and trying to get help your baby won't be taken! CPS will be involved at first if the baby has withdrawal symptoms but once they see your in a legal clinic and what not they drop it and back off.**THIS INFO COULD VARY IN DIFFERENT STATES** I'm from Maryland and all of this was discussed with my OB over and over again! My doctor has told me Suboxen is NOT a route to go while pregnant.He said that doctors who put pregnant woman on it are simply experimenting because they do NOT actually know if their is any risk,so nobody knows how dangerous or IF it is dangerous..so I would definitely not go on it while pregnant  shock:

She can beat this if she wants to, and it seems to me like she does. I imagine it puts someone ease to be able to be able to hear testimonies of others who have been down this path and overcome it, which why she posted this in first place, so it seems. I wish I had some great ground breaking advice offer OP, but I don't. But I fully support her on her to sobriety, I think she can do it. Especially if she will disregard the terrible negativity from others online and in real life.

Hello I would just like to make a comment but I am not comparing myself or my past to this as I have never had an addiction to hard drugs.


Reading this has made me realise that there are so many different views on drugs and what you should do about it if you have an issue while pregnant. one thing that is very clear and should be to all is that if someone asks for help no matter what circumstances they are in they should be supported and guided without ridicule and put down!!!!! they are taking their first steps just as a baby dose, some can get up and run others take months of baby septs and falling before getting it right we are all different.

You do not scream at a baby for falling over do you?

NO MUM TO BE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO FEEL THE TORMENT OF BEING TOLD TO GET RID OF HER BABY BY ANY ONE IN ANY SITUATION. SO DON’T DO IT WE GOT PAST THIS DECADES AGO.

Reading this has also given me the wake up call to stop smoking cigarettes without even intending to. Thank you. And good luck on your long and windy road.
