do you spank you children?

honestly no offense, but why do you spank? There are countless of other ways to teaching and disciplining then spanking. even research will tell you that spanking children is actually not the greatest way of "disciplining" . whats your thoughts?

my thoughts are other parents can discipline their kids how they please and do what they feels works best with their children. ive done it in the past on very rare occasions but dont anymore because it never had an effect on him

I think most studies are over rated and mean jack. You can spank and teach just as much as you can spank and damage a childs development IMO

I think that everyone has different parenting styles and its none of my business why parents who spank do so.

I don't spank regularly, but if my Dd puts herself in danger like running out into the parking lot I will spank her. She did it once and hasn't since.

No, I do not spank. I don't find it healthy or productive.

You ask "do you spank" and why then give the guilt trip and want people to be honest? Now I feel like just opening right on up to you.

My children my business

I think parents that cut down their kids or ridicule them as a punishment do a lot more damage than a spank. Sometimes a parents version of a "talk" that is meant to be constructive comes off to the kid making them feel useless and shamed.

Yes. I do spank. Not hard, I'm sure most times they don't even feel it, and always on the bum. I do it because with MY kids a spanking (or threat of one) is often the only thing that actually stops them from doing what they were doing (which for my dare devils usually involves danger of some sort)

I spank as a last resort. When multiple warnings and time outs are not working I do a few swats on the butt. I rarely have to though.

I don't spank my children. Redirection, time outs, and losing privileges has always worked for me. When they are older I will ground them. My children are both pretty well behaved.

I don't spank, I don't like to see other parents spank, and I think it's an outdated and useless parenting/discipline method.

But it's not my business to tell other people how to parent/dliscipline their child. If they ask me what they think about the spanking, I will be honest though.

I don't spank. I'm not into punishing my kids, I discipline just fine without any form of punishment.
