well then you just worry about your own children.It works for some children maybe not yours. Don't worry about how someone else parents their child(ren).

Oh trust me, I'm not that concerned. The only situation I would be concerned is if my son became friends with a child whose parent used that punishment in front of my child. I don't want him exposed to violence.

Same. I've been spanked as a child. I was beaten as a teenager and young adult by my ex. The two are completely different, and honestly, it's a little offensive when people try and make them sound the same.

no, children don't need to be punished with an audience.

Yes, and many people may have not had the aggressive spanking that is borderline abuse, but many people have and that is really when I compare it to a domestic situation.
Like, my friend for example is a non-spanker and she lost is one day when her son ran into a parking lot & she spanked his bottom. I can totally understand why she reacted the way that she did & I didn't judge her one bit.

like I said earlier, I dont spank, as my son is 3 and timeouts work effectively.

But I do know (as a child who was spanked) its doesnt have to be a negative discipline.

You seem more open minded then you came across in your first post.
You cant group all spanking parents into one group.


Its like a prolife saying 'unless its medically necessary'......its okay to e open minded, we dont have to sit on one side of the fence

Absolutely! I am very open minded and I try very hard not to judge others as best as I can.

I wouldn't, but that's just my preference. As long as it doesn't cross over to becoming abusive I don't mind parents spanking their own children.

my brothers and sisters used to get a spanking every now and then as kids... im not emotionally damaged lol
we had a three warning system then a smack on the bare butt with the belt!
it only happened once or twice before we realised that if we didnt behave we would be getting a smack. needless to say the warnings soon became enough to stop our bad behavior.

i havnt had to use spanking yet i have pretty good kids but when the time comes if i feel the need i will implement the three warnings then a smack system for bad behavior. some kids respond well to time out and redirection others need a smack. i dont like it when parents are just always hitting their kids for everything all the time tho especially when its just because they cant control their own temper.
