Prayers need so much right now!

Earlier today my dog (who is 12) when we took him out to walk his hind legs would give out on him and he would fall over. We left for an hour and came back and he is paralyzed from the waist down. He cant use his hind legs or tail at all. We rushed him to the vet and they said he has a disc that is pinching off a nerve causing paralysis. There is back surgery which would only have a 40% of it fixing the problem for $2000+. We just dont have the money for it......They gave us strong steriods and pain medicine for 5 days and if that dont work or his organs start failing we'll have to put him down.........ive had this dog for 6-7 years....ive finally been able to calm down from crying.......i pray the steriods work.........

I say this with all love possible, you should let him go now. This is no quality of life for a dog. I know you love him, but you have to think of him right now.

I know, the dr said if they dont work overnight they probably wont work. If he isnt at least improving by tomorrow morning were gonna put him down.................

Its okay, its in gods hands now

I know it's tough dear. But steroids are a temporary fix. He is old and tired, it may be best for both of you to let him go. I'd hate to watch someone I love suffer.

I agree with this. That's no life for a dog.

What type of dog is he? My mom's lab has hip problems I know they are common with labs. She is the same age and should have been put down months ago.
I really hope he pulls through though! I will keep him in my thoughts.. hopefully the steroids work and if they don't at least he won't be in pain. XO

Hes a maltese. Yeah, they gave him pain medicine so hell relax

Praying! We just had to put my Petie to sleep, so I know exactly what your going through. I hope the meds work for him!!

Small dog so their life expectancy is longer.   Hopefully this is just a little bump in the road and he recovers. Has he had health problems before or did this kind of just come up out of the blue?
