2 vessel cord

I just got off thr phone with my Dr and I was told that the dr reviewed my ultrasound and my umbilical cord has two vessels instead of three. She's behind in growth and im scared smurfless. Has anyone else gone through this? What does it mean for my baby's future? Is there anything the dr can do to help?

My GF had this with her youngest. She went for an ultrasound every 2 weeks to keep and eye on everything, and had a NICU team on standby for delivery. Baby was born completely healthy and will be 2 this year.

My friend just gave birth to a perfect little girl with a 2 vessel cord last month.

That's great to hear! Did she ever find out what caused it? Did she go full term?

Just an abnormality is what they told her. And I believe she went over a few days.
The only thing bad about it all, was she ended up with a c-section because she wasn't progressing and got MRSA after her section

What is MRSA?

Antibiotic resistant Staph infection.

My second son had this. I just had him in September he was on the smallerish side 6lbs but perfectly healthy and term. Theyll just keep a close eye on the baby. Really isnt much to worry about.

I know people who have had this and all of them had healthy babies. Just needed a little extra monitoring. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's also a marker for Down Syndrome, but if there are no other markers, I wouldn't worry about that.

Going through it right now I'm being induced at the end of the month... There nothing that caused it its just o e of those things that happen and I get ultrasounds every month and nsts every week (tough the nsts every week vary from doctor to doctor) so far my lil man is in the 50 percentile for weight and everything looks good ....the only main problem with 2vessel cord is growth restriction other then that I wouldn't worry

My daughter was born last month HEALTHY and she had a 2 vessel cord, they just monitor you more closely towards the end (I had an US every 2 weeks from 32 weeks on). They monitor the heart and kidneys most since they take the most blood, after your baby is born they might give her an ultrasound for her kidneys ( my pedi said its outdated protocol but they gave my daughter one).

It sounds scary, I was in tears when I found out but it's nothing to be overly concerned about (I know naturally you will be as mother). It's not as scary as you think. My daughter was born slightly smaller than my other two but she was also born earlier
