Hi,
Through out pregnancy its normal to see the mucus plug leak. Some will go into labor without the water breaking or the mucus plug coming out. My first the water just broke. My second I was induced and after feeling like I had to go to the bathroom so bad that pushed really hard and my water broke in the air. You definitly don't want to see any red or blood to come out when you go into labor. If you do that could mean something is wrong.
What you wrote I suggest you get to the hospital right away.

My plug was sitting on my daughters head. So I guess I am no help! Lol.

It was gross! I though something was wrong for a second until I realized it was my plug. Lol!
