Could she be sick? :(

posted 14th Mar
My 18 month old daughter has been waking up the past 3 nights with a fever, last night being at its highest at 101.9. She is also super constipated even after suppositories and a prune juice, and she also won't eat or drink anything. We've tried all her favorite foods and drinks, she refuses it all. What could be going on?

The part that sucks is her doctor closes at 4 and my boyfriend can't get home till 5:30, so if she still won't eat or drink we'll have to take her to the hospital.

I just feel so bad because all she does is whine.

Stomach bug? Have you given anything to help the fever?

Tylenol. We have Ibuprofen too, but she's broken the fevers with the Tylenol.

Are the fevers random? They come and go at random times or are they constant? Try calling the doctor and asking him for advice? I know ours has a call hour.

I bet she has what Elliot had. Started with low grade night fevers...then high night fevers, then day fevers..then seizure...it was awful. Took a full two weeks for her to feel better and the fever and no appetite were her only symptoms. The doctor and/ER will just say alternate between Tylenol and ibprophen...although she could have an ear infection or uTi (Elliot didn't have either so they said it was the flu) either way I hope she feels better mama

She went this morning but it was only a tiny little bit, and before that it was two days. So we were expecting a lot more to come out. :\

Is the fever only at night? Is she teething right now?
If you can't take her to her doctor, consider Redicare. Or if you want to take her to the hospital, take her to St Luke's in Bethlehem. They're really good with/for kids

Was she okay during the day? Like still played and stuff?

Have you ever thought of probiotics for the constipation? My daughter has been on them since she turned a year and we have never had any issues with constipation. The fever is something you should mention to a pediatrician.

St. Lukes is the only hospital we go to. But we go to the Anderson Campus, it's closer to my house and they're really nice and good with kids.

But her fevers are only throughout the night. She doesn't seem to be teething. She usually get the opposite and gets diarrhea. :\

my daughter has chronic constipation and when she gets backed up like that she refuses to eat or drink anything also. If the bowels get too backed up it can cause an infection so be careful. It could be that she is just sick but I would definitely have her seen and mention all that you have told us here.

Heathen had a bug a few months ago where she only had a fever at night, but she was still sluggish during the day. No constipation though.
Have you tried a laxative or just the suppositories?
