Whats wrong with me?

MY daughter is five months old today ( how time flies!) and I just finished my period Saturday/Sunday and ever since I finished it I have had some light pink spotting when I wipe and I do sometime but rarely have had red spotting as well. I had cramping the other night as well at 530am. Increased headaches and increased trips to the bathroom as well. I have had a few nights ago the feeling of hot sweats but those have gone away. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I dont want to go to the doctor and waste their time if nothing is wrong and I look like an idiot.

I forgot to add that I also have been having low back pain but I think I may be able to contribute that to the Episiotomy I had with my daughter five months old. I had an infection from that and was obviously on medication to treat it and part of me thinks it didn't fully treat the whole infection properly.

Hmm, that's a toughy. As for the odd period, it can take a while for your hormones to regulate so you should expect some weirdness with your periods for a while. The other symptoms, I'm just not sure. You could try calling an on call nurse to get their opinion and suggestions. He/she could also tell you if it would be a good idea to come in or if what you are experiencing is normal. Plus, phoning an on call nurse is free and doesn't require you to go anywhere so it's quite convenient.

Infection could be a possibility. I've had cervicitus before, it was not related to any infection, my dr. told me it can be quite common in younger women as our cervix has a larger area of the softer tissue and thus is more prone to irritation which can result in random spotting. I was happy to find out that it was simple irritation and that there was no infections causing it so no treatment needed, just a week of pelvic rest to give the enflamed tissue time to return to normal. It was a little scary because my symptoms were bleeding after sex which had never happened to me before.

Oh, one other thing that could cause some abnormal bleeding is if you bfeed. I'm not sure if you breastfeed or formula feed so I figured it couldn't hurt to bring it up. If your bfing and LO is going through a growth spurt the additional nursing can mess with your hormones causing your periods to fluctuate and become erratic. Personally I never got a period while bfing but many women do and I've read of many having random spotting and weird periods. Even if your ffing it may still take a year or more before your periods return to regularity, that's about how long it took for mine to normalize after they returned, and the research I've done on it seems to indicate it can take up to a year and sometimes longer.
If you are noticing any off smell from your discharge infection is very possible. Keep an eye on it, if you suffer any flu like symptoms see a dr. asap as it may not be the flu it could be an indication of a very serious infection.

That would explain why you were menstruating so soon after birth. Hmmm...I don't really have any other ideas other than your hormones may still be out of whack. I did remember that I tend to have hot flashes from time to time in the first year after my kids were born, so that could be a normal thing, I never gave it much thought, figured it was hormones. lol, I blame it all on the hormones. I hope things get back to normal for you soon.

I know this is a few days after I posted this topic but I am still experiencing all this plus am getting cramping as well as feeling in my low abdomen my skin stretching. I am going to go to the doctor for sure tomorrow because I can't handle this anymore. I just want to know whats going on.

I went to the doctor this afternoon and it turns out I have an bladder infection again. Thank you for all your advice/help everyone.

thank goodness it was something simple. hope you feel better soon.   I've never had a bladder infection but I've heard they can be quite painful.

Thank you. I had one in November and one three years ago that I didn't know I had ( I thought it was period cramps but the period never came and I, like an idiot let it go on for two months) . I Felt really dizzy and the cramps were unbearable and it turned out to be an kidney infection. That wasn't fun.
