re: How long do you let LO leave for?

posted 14th Mar
For the past year, never. Not once. They're with DH and I at ALL times. Both our Mom's have some major screws lose, and DH won't allow our kids to be around my stepmom, so staying at my Dad's is out of the question. And there is nobody else we would trust enough to leave them with. If I needed to, I'd be okay leaving DD1(not DH's biological child) at my Dad's for overnight, I have before, but not for a long time now.

DS is 11 months old. We left him with my MIL once to go out to dinner, but that's the only time he's been away from either of us and she came to our house to watch him. I don't feel comfortable leaving him somewhere else so he's never stayed the night anywhere (although a night off would be AMAZING!)

My son is 4.5, he started going overnites to my moms when he was 3mos. It was only for one nite. That's the longest he's ever gone away.

My daughter on the other hand, is a year and she's been gone up to a month (at christmas) before. Typically it's only two weeks. Her daddy is military, and lives in FWB, and his family lives in Smyrna, both of which are hefty rides for either of us to make for just a weekend or a couple of days. Usually she only will go once every couple of months, but here lately she has been gone a little more bc of the holidays, and her birthday, and all that jazz. They re getting her for a week in April for their Spring Break (they vacay in FWB where her daddy lives, so they are going to get her so they can spend more time) and after that I anticipate her to stay home for awhile.

I imagine if you're BFing then it would make it harder to let them go for longer periods of time.

He will be two in April and I've left him with my parents two times, for three hours each time. No way in hell I'd leave him home overnight (i live with my parents)

Just curious, do you not trust your parents or just so attached to your DS that you dont want to leave him for longer?

I'm attached to him. I trust my parents to take care of him but they can get a bit impatient now that he's a toddler and acts like a toddler so I'd rather be there to spare them the hassle, although I know they'd LOVE to have him alone for a while. Also the only times I did leave when we're my best friend was in town. I don't have any other friends, besides my neighbor and we hang with our kids.
Some people can't believe I don't want time away, but I really don't mind being with my son all the time. I'm weird.

I dont think its weird, you guys just have a great realtionship and you enjoy spending time with him. Nothing weird about that. :-)

I live with my dad and my mom lives 2 hours away. So I couldn't imagine letting him go there lol. Her and I have talked about us going down and me pumping so she can get up with him at night for a few nights.
