I feel the same way.

I think if the Mother choose not to abort and everyone is happy with the situation then that is fantastic and brings a smile to my face, very happy for them! However if I'm in that situation I'll abort and I'll be perfectly happy with my decision too, different strokes for different folks. Doesn't effect my opinion on abortion whatsoever, I'm still pro choice.

I watched the documentary on this and she didn't know that the deformity was going to be that severe. She was told by the docs the baby will have a cleft palate. The doc who delivered said something like "Back in the day a baby like that would've been left somewhere in the back room to die."

It's a bad situation all around. She's missing over 50% of her skull bones, can't talk, blink, eat. She gets many surgeries to stretch some of her bones in the face but it didn't seem to make much of a difference to me.

I'd be pissed that my mom didn't abort me if i came out with that many challenges.

The meme is clearly meant to support a pro choice agenda but damn, it's in poor taste.

So if she can't talk, eat, blink, etc I'm assuming she can't communicate at all so it begs the question why someone has decided to write on her picture "Thanks for not aborting me" seeing as no one would really know if she was thankful for not being aborted

I would have aborted. If I had that many defects and problems, I'd have wanted to be aborted. That's not the quality of life I would want to give my child.

Oh she does? Well that's pretty good she has some form of communication, I work day in day out with people who can't communicate at all and it's very sad.

That is heartbreaking. I would have flipped so hard on that Doctor.

Yeah she's actually a delightful little girl and completely normal from her neck down. Intelligent as well. I fear for her quality of life however. Even with numerous surgeries she will never look anything close to normal.

I'll probably have to try and see if I can watch the show she has been in at some point seems interesting. If she can do everything else just fine and she is perfectly happy I don't think her looks will effect her quality of life too much. We had a show running for quite a while where each week it featured 2 people, 1 who had a severe deformity and another who looked "normal" but was obsessed and unhappy with the way they looked. It tried to teach the person who looked "normal" to be more comfortable with themselves and the majority of the time the experience was really helpful for them. The person with the deformity was always much happier and comfortable with their appearance than the "normal" looking person. It was quite interesting and really surprising.

Oh wow..... how could modern ultrasounds not catch a birth defect THAT severe?????
