Pain and Pressure...

So I been having sharp pains around my stomach and mainly my lower stomach, like just above my crotch (sorry if that's tmi) along with some back pain. Another thing... I had a weekly check up Monday and told them my throat had been bothering me for a couple days. I had thought I had gotten sick from my sister cuz my sister had spent the night at my house and when she went home she ended up having strep. OB just checked my throat and said it was a little red, didn't do a throat culture. Ever since then its still been hurting along with sneezing and bad coughing. I do have an induction date set for next Tuesday. So my questions are... Should I be considered about the sickness I may have and are the pains and pressure I been feeling normal?

Why would people bash you about your induction?

I think you should go back, did they know you've been in contact with someone with strep throat? They should have done a culture, it can lead to rheumatic fever

Yeah I told them about being around my sister and people bash me about getting induced because I have no medical reason for it.

Well you were due yesterday, when you have your induction you will be almost a week over, thats not bad. Its not like you're 37 weeks and taking castor oil lol.

Yeah, I would go back, people slip through the system every day and sometimes you have to push to get proper care.

Well I did call my OB about an hour ago and the midwife on call said to call in the morning and see if I can be seen so I can get a throat culture done and to have my cervix checked.

Thats good, I hope it's not strep throat. Even if it is, they will give you antibiotics and you will be fine. Good luck!

You're past your due date. That's a medical reason

If I was you, I would wait to get inducted til they made sure you don't have strep throat. This is just from a nurses point of veiw. You really do not want to give that to a newborn baby. It will make them very sick and cause cutter complications. I would want to be fever free before having the baby if you can.

But if she was planning on breastfeeding wouldn't the any get antibodies a f have done protection against it anyway?

The last thing, she needs is to give the baby strep. If things aren't sterile and people are not careful it can be passed on to the baby. The baby does not have an immune system like we do even with the breast milk. Strep could in up in the cord when cut or any other place. It would be better to wait three days and take an antibiotic and make sure she was not contagious first but that is my opinion. My first child ended up very sick right after she was born because of an infection. High fever, rash and antibiotics. She was only a week olden. Its not fun having a sick newborn.
