C-sections: Staples vs. Glue

posted 13th Mar
It's looking like a c-section is likely for me because my LO is still breech and also very large. I have been given the choice of staples or glue, which do you ladies recommend and why?

glue, you won't have to go back and have staples removed!
My scar is tiny, and at 6 weeks PP barely visible.

I had glue with my first two & will with this one too.

No complaints. It started to come off on its own a few weeks pp.

Glue for sure. I've never had staples but I've seen pics. Mine was healed perfectly.

Thanks ladies! Glue is what I'm leaning towards, and I'm glad I asked because my doctor prefers staples but said she would do glue if I wanted. I read somewhere that women who have a little extra weight don't do well with glue? Is that true? I'm not super heavy but I'm considered overweight for my height. Do you think it matters?

Nope, not true. I was pretty overweight before and after I had LB and my doctor never said anything about the glue not working.

I hadn't heard anything about that, but I was way overweight at the time I gave birth.

My nurses all said glue makes it look way nicer. Cause I was shocked when I could finally see it and didn't even know glue was a thing haha

Awesome, thank you everyone! I have always heard good things about glue and I think that's probably a better bet than staples.

I didn't have the glue with piper, and the difference was amazing! I am glad I had a different doctor and had the glue, bc it made a huge difference.

My best friend had glue when she had a c section last year. She loved it and she was in less pain. Can't even see her scar almost a year later.

I really didn't see a difference in healing between the two. I prefer glue though. The staples made me insanely itchy!

I had to have staples, glue and stitches with my daughter, and staples can be painful and really itchy on occasion. Especially when bathing, I like using my luffa and it can get caught on the staples and tug at them But other than that glue wasn't that bad, but if I had to choose I would choose glue, just because you dont have to worry about staples coming out or anything, and trust me they can I had two come out before I was healed and had to them put in again at the hospital. They were on the left end of my wound. And it was less than a week after I got them, it was scary especially for a first time mother who didn't know anything about anything and had a hole in her wound. lol.
