Sounds like she was talking out of her ass lol. I'd talk to the doctor, but dont be surprised if he tells you no, especially before 39 weeks.

lol. maybe you should ask your doctor. i had a similar situation and i asked and they set me up for induction the day i turned 39 weeks but i was also 3 cm for a month before that. i ended up having her sunday morning and was going to be induced on monday. my doctor started checking for dialation at 35 weeks.

I don't want to be induced, my DH just wanted me to ask. Usually at my doctors office you have a different doctor every time you go in but I had problems at the beginning of my pregnancy so I got assigned a doctor. With DD they never checked me until my water broke.

Maybe she meant they dont check specifically for dilation until labor. My doctor doesnt check until labor but he will start pelvic exams at my next appointment (so 34 to 35 weeks) and will be able to tell me about my progress. If that is not the case for you, then yeah that is confusing. I would def ask about it.

It's more out of state than out of town. He'll be 6 hours away.

I remember when I went to the hospital thinking my water broke they did a test to check but that's as close to a progress check I ever got until my water actually broke.

I have a different doctor this time then I did with DD. That doctor never checked me until I went in to be induced but with this doctor, not only will he not induce, which I love because I regret inducing with DD, but he also explains everything to me, and I mean everything. I love this doctor. I am almost thinking about having one more after this one just so he can be my doctor again.. I am totally kidding, we are done after this one. lol
