Re-freeze?

I want to make turkey burgers for lunch. DH doesn't like turkey burgers so I bought ground beef for him. So I only need to use half of each package. My problem is, they are both completely frozen. Is it ok to thaw them out, use half, then refreeze the half we didn't use???

nah, cook it all and then freeze the left overs once it's cooled.
I always portion everything before putting in the freezer. So much easier   xx
