Sport for bous

posted 12th Mar
Hi everyone!
My older son, Rich, 7 years old, wants to go to Taekwondo. My husband says it's ok, but I'm not sure. Can you advise some other martial arts that are not so dangerous...

You could always do karate. My husband used to do judo, and said taekwondo isn't really dangerous, but I assume any martial arts can be dangerous.

They are all kicking and punching but I they don't teach violence. They teach how to avoid violence and danger

Also, any sport has "danger"

You can break bones playing soccer, get concussions from football, get injured with basketball, get hit in the head with a baseball

The martial arts are no more dangerous than any other sport.

I agree that any sport is dangerous... But nevertheless, I think that it's better to go in for sport rather than play computer games. But on the other hand... computer games can't do any physical harm.
So, I think I should agree for taekwondo as it's not so dangerous as karate.
Thank you so much!

Computer games absolutely can cause physical harm. Obesity, short attention span, low muscle tone, etc

And There is the same amount of risk in any martial arts. But the risk is so low. They rarely let kids spar, and even then, it is only for kids are a higher belt level.

Gotta let kids be kids and kids get hurt. Just a fact of life.
